Arctic Railway Gateway

Overview

The Arctic Railway Gateway connects various remote railway devices using the GSM-R network. Critical data is transferred from remote locations in a reliable and secure way. The device is fully compliant to Eirene specifications and GSM-R specifications.

GSM-R, Global System for Mobile Communications - Railway or GSM-Railway is an international wireless communications standard for railway communication and applications.

Arctic Railway Gateway uses GSM-R networks to enable data connectivity to telemetry devices, station and train control.

Arctic Railway Gateway is a field proven for reliable and secure data communications. Serial or Ethernet devices can be linked wirelessly via GSM-R/GPRS.

Key Features
  • Arctic Railway Gateway is customized for Railway application.

  • Reliability of connection and the device itself is essential. This is provided by internal and communication monitoring. In case of any malfunction communication is re established automatically.

  • Being able to work with either private or public operator APNs makes the Arctic GSM-R Gateway especially suitable for connecting remote devices and equipment to the Internet and corporate networks.

  • End-to-end data security is achieved either by utilizing private APN services provided by a mobile operator or by using Viola M2M Gateway which provides VPN connection between the Viola M2M Gateway and Arctic devices.

  • In addition to an Ethernet interface there are RS232 and RS-232/422/485 (with switch selectable biasing and termination) serial ports available for connecting single or multiple serial devices to Arctic Railway Gateway. Data from serial devices can be forwarded also to Ethernet port if needed.

  • Ethernet and GPRS wireless network interface

Arctic 3G / LTE Lite

Overview

Arctic 3G and LTE Lite products are highly robust network devices for rugged industrial environments. They are simple to use, and are proven for long-term field operation. Arctic 3G and LTE Lite products are built for high reliability in harsh industrial environments with a wide operating temperature range. They have been tested and approved in many demanding conditions – in northern frost and snow, and in the blazing heat and dust of arid terrains.

Cut implementation time and cost by utilizing public mobile networks

Arctic 3G and LTE Lite provide total solutions when the aim is to integrate remote serial (RS232/485) or Ethernet devices within a central management system over a GPRS, 3G or LTE connection. The Arctic 3G and LTE Lite wireless gateways make it possible to have cost-effective communication networks over long distances, at high data rates (up to 100Mbps).

With support for secure VPN communications, static IP routing, an intelligent self-testing system, NAT, port forwarding and a firewall for monitoring IP traffic and blocking unwanted connections, Arctic wireless gateways provide a secure and reliable communications solution

Viola M2M – an all-in-one solution

Viola offers more than just single devices. We deliver a complete M2M turn-key solution for remote control systems, including improved levels of reliability, deployment and maintenance. Our approach towards an “internet of things” is a complete solution for managed connectivity. Our solution is simple, flexible and easily adapted to different business models, and it can be integrated into any existing system.

Viola M2M – for independence from the operator

The IP address given by the mobile operator does not have to be fixed. Thus standard SIM cards can be used with confidence. In Viola M2M, the Viola M2M gateway provides a fixed IP address for all remote devices. This means that all the remote devices always have a fixed IP address – even if the address provided by the mobile operator is dynamic.
